Tax Filing Deadlines

January 15

Due date for 4th installment of estimated tax for 2008.

January 31
Form W-2 statements must be furnished by employers. 
Form 1099 statements must be furnished by banks, brokers and other payers.
Federal unemployment tax returns must be filed.

February 28
Form 1099 must be filed by payers to the IRS. 
Form W-2 must be sent by employers to the Social Security Administration.

March 3
Farmers and fisherman who did not make last years estimated tax payments must file current tax return and pay taxes in full.

March 4
Suggest contacting your CPA to prepare your tax return before it is too late.

March 17
C-Corporations that are calendar-year corporations, tax return due.
S-Corporations that are calendar-year corporations, tax return due. 

March 25
If you know that paperwork is delayed, and it would be difficult to file your return on time you should consider filing for an extension at this time (because there may be estimated payments to be calculated).

April 15
Form 1040 Individual tax return must be filed.
Form 1040 Extensions must be filed.
Form 1065 Partnership tax return must be filed.
Annual gift tax return must be filed.
Deadline for IRA contributions.

April 16
2nd installment of estimated tax due.

September 15
3rd installment of estimated tax due.

October 15
Form 1040,
if extension is filed - is now due.

January 15
4th installment of estimated tax due for 2009.
